Visual Art

Finley Orchid is a self-taught mixed medium artist whose work explores the intersection of identity and nature, emotional introspection, and queerness. Based in Manchester, Finn combines gestural brushwork with touching figures to create pieces that display the turbulence of the heart—its aching, its joy, its yearning—into gestural forms that transcend language.

Always with a natural creative flair, Finn’s journey into art began in response to an emotional breakdown at 17 years old. Over the years, she has exhibited in several galleries and colleges around Manchester, and sold artwork to those moved by her pieces. Every movement of the brush speaks to the vulnerability of being seen and celebrates the emotional landscapes, not just of queerness, but of humanity—fluid, unpredictable, and beautifully complex.

Finley’s portfolio spans portraiture, vibrant abstract environments, and immersive installations combining her self-produced music with her visual art. Her process often involves experimenting with oil pastels and pencil atop many thick acrylic layers. She enjoys sporadic brushwork, though has a knack for beautifully intricate and lifelike portraiture.

Finley is currently working on a series exploring identity through floral impressionism, with pieces available at BookAnArtist.com.
